I’ve been seeing a lot of photos of goldfish in bowls under #goldfish.
Goldfish of any kind need a bare minimum of 15-20 gallons each. Those little single-tailed goldfish you see at fairs and in feeder tanks at the pet store can live up to 20 years and grow up to a foot long if given proper care.
Do your research before getting a pet of any kind. Most pet shop employees are misinformed when it comes to fish. When doing research of any kind, look at multiple sources and check all facts with a reliable source.
*Note: Even if you are going by the bare minimum stocking guideline, keep in mind that there is a possibility your goldfish will outgrow its tank and you will need to upgrade to a larger one. Average for a mature fancy goldfish is 6-8 inches total. Average for a single tailed goldfish is 8+ inches ( with even bigger potential when kept in ponds)
You can find lots of info on goldfish care on popular forums such as:
http://www.kokosgoldfish.invisionzone.com/forum/
http://goldfishkeepers.com/forum/
http://thegoldfishtank.com/

do your fucking research

literally the ONLY reason I’m not getting my precious beloved tumor fish yet

THIS IS IMPORTANT. Do research on any fish before taking on that responsibility… including betta fish.
